Amendment : Wearing Type Research

Amendment of my Wearing type project, Which lacked significant research into Type based hats.
For my research, I tried to find Hats, in which the structure of the hat is based around the type. This however was challenging to find, and so I decided to focus more on the visual side of the design.



I liked this hat because the letters overlap, creating an interesting design. The bubbly style of the letters, and the Red and White colour scheme create a good looking hat.



I liked this design, because of its simpleness. The sketchy style is interesting, and stands out well agaisnt the hate, serving as a Centre logo. However, I would prefer my to hat to have many designs on it, And not just a centre piece.



I loved this hat design. It looked good, Featured varied Type, and the colouring used was excellent. If my final design looked this impressive, I would be very pleased.



This is what I want my final hat design to be shaped like. Imagine that hat shape, With Text on the brim and scrolling up the sides. Hopefully, it will look pimp :)

Moving Type project

Complete my moving type video on Flash 8.0
Frankly im amazed I managed to make anything, what with the deep hatred I have for Flash, Im sure it hates me just as much though.
Overall, I guess it was alright :/ If I had a clue how to work flash, I would have been a lot better.

Moving Type Research

For my moving type project, I decided to either use a long movie quote, or a short song. Either way, I decided some research would be a good place to start. I chose to only look at videos created using computer programs, as that is the direction I want to take with the project. And to be honest, I dont access to a video camera, but I do to a computer :)

One of the first examples I looked at was a scene from the Cult Classic Pulp Fiction, Where Samuel Jackson interrogates someone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HePWBNcugf8

I liked this video, as the frantic pace of the conversation is reflected in the speed of the type moving across the screen. The larger bold Text of Jackson demanding shouts, is easily recognisable agaisnt the scared victims timid answers. Either way, I really enjoyed the video.

I didnt like this one as much, as while it did have some interesting effects, It didnt seem as well done as the previous video. Although I did like the use if transforming one word into another, and reusing the same text, only moving it about a little, Its something I will inlcude in my plans.

I liked the continuous stream of text in this one, and how each new sentence built off the previous one to form a chain of sorts. This is an element which was not previous in the other two videos.

This video was by far the best ive seen, it shows a range of techniques and affects I would like to experiment with. To be honest though, accomplishing something like this would be far outside my range of skill with the programs we are going to use.

I thought the timing for the song was impressive, as was the use of simple colours to create a Type in motion video that stands out well and captures your attention.

Probably the most Dodgy, flimsy and tall hat you will ever see :P To begin with making it out of thin Card was not the best Idea... And I didnt even realise it was that tall till I tried to wear it in my Hallway.

Typograhy Mashup

Heres a Mashup of type I created with some spare time and an epic pen :P started with my name in the top right and went mad. My friend was nice enough to point out that I almost have a 'Waldo' in there somewhere.
